Happy Thanksgiving!!


Dear Parents and Students,
Just a simple reminder that we are so thankful for each of you and for your children! We pray for you all to have a wonderful Thanksgiving filled with the joy of being together and memories that will last a lifetime. Your help, support, prayers, and faithfulness are such a gift to us each day. We are asking that God would bless you abundantly over this Thanksgiving break as you celebrate God’s bountiful blessings. See you on November 28th!


Scholastic Book Fair – MANY thanks to all of our volunteers throughout the week and to Kristi Arnolds and Debbie Jasper for co-chairing this event. You did a wonderful job leading! It was a wonderful success as the total sales for this year was $6317.42 and the amount that will go to FBA for library and expenses is $1579.36. We are so grateful for all of your support in this year’s book fair!!!



Mark your calendar - On Tuesday, Wednesday, November 30th our fifth grade students will be selling cookies, cupcakes and brownies during lunch to benefit the O’Fallon Food Pantry. All monies will go toward our shopping day at Schnuck’s.
12th Annual Holiday Outreach Mission Project for O’Fallon Food Pantry - Our mission focus for Christmas has begun. The collection jar is located in the FBA office for all coin/money donations. We want to encourage you to allow the students do special projects around the home to make money to contribute toward the purchase of food for the O’Fallon Food Pantry. Help us make this year our best ever as we minister in the name of Jesus.


Willie Wonka Auditions – Auditions will take place for 3-6th grade students on Thursday, December 8th from 3:15-4:30 pm and Friday, December 9th for the 7-12th grade students from 3:15 –4:30. Audition packets were due on November 21st. Please meet Mrs. Jones in the music room on the day of auditions.

School Cancellation Due to Weather – When weather is such that we need to close school, School closings will be listed on KSDK Channel 5, KMOV Channel 4, and KTVI -FOX News Channel 2. Emergency text messages will also be sent to those who have signed up to receive those texts.


16-17 Winter Final Schedule - The finals schedule for 9-12th grade is posted on the website at the top of the home page. Please be sure to check times/dates – all 9-12th grade students are required to be at final exams.


Retake and Sports Photos – December 8th- Please have all basketball players bring their basketball uniform to school on that day and other sports teams will be given their uniforms that morning to change to before their pictures. Retakes for individual pictures will be on that day as well so if you want your student’s pictures redone, please send in the old package with them on that day to give to their teacher/office and it will be retaken.

Host Home for Foreign Exchange Students: We have an opportunity to host foreign exchange students at FBA in the near future. Box Tops for Education Contest Winner– 10th Grade!  Congratulations to these students and thanks to all who participated in this fundraiser.  Please keep those box tops coming all year long.

13th Annual Holiday Outreach Mission Project for O’Fallon Food Pantry - Our mission focus for Christmas will begin next week. The collection jar will be located outside the FBA office for all coin/money donations. We want to encourage you to allow the students do special projects around the home to make money to contribute toward the purchase of food for the O’Fallon Food Pantry. The students from each class will then shop at Schnuck’s for the food on December 9th and our Student Council students will deliver the food.

Due to the many hours of investment from our Fantastic Auction team and the people who so graciously gave last year, look what is happening at FBA!!!!

 

Technology update - 30 new Chromebooks and a traveling lab for our students

 

FORMS DUE:  Remember medical forms (K, 6, 9th grade and all new Homeschool/out of state students – physical, immunization, dental, eye forms; 2nd grade – dental only) were due to the office by September 1.  If you have not turned in your forms please contact Pat immediately with the date of your scheduled appointment.

 

Lunchroom/Classroom Request – Please notify the office 24 hours prior to having lunch with your student.  It helps so much in our ability to know who is coming and to be able to notify our lunchroom supervisors.  Just call Pat, 726-6040, to make arrangements on the day before you would like to join your child for lunch.  Also, always check in with receptionist when needing to speak with or drop something off to your child/office.  We will be most happy to facilitate your needs. Please do not enter classroom when class is in session.  Thanks for your help in this matter.

 

Box Tops for Education Contest–   Next Box Top contest begins now - October 15th.  Please be sure to send in those box tops during that time to your child’s homeroom teacher.  The classroom with the most box tops collected will earn special recognition. The box tops money helps us expand and keep our playgrounds safe for student use.  We collect box tops all year round and we are grateful for all your help in making this happen! We are looking for a box top coordinator so if you are interested please don’t hesitate to contact us!

 

FBA Yearbook –The K-8 Yearbook staff is having its Kick-Off Meeting on Wednesday, September 14th, at 2:00 p.m. in room 260. The plan for this year's book will be clearly outlined and page assignments made. Come and learn how you can help record God's faithfulness in your student's class. For K-8, send your R.S.V.P. and any questions to Monica Munhofen at: monicamommy@yahoo.com.

Weather Changes/Appropriate Dress:  Please be sure that your child comes to school with appropriate clothing for outdoor play.  We will be going outside whenever possible even in cold weather and the children will be expected to have clothing that is appropriate for outdoor conditions.  Please make sure they come prepared to stay warm.  Thanks for your help in this matter.

 

Fundraising Opportunities -   Please help our school this year by participating in our on-going opportunities:

·         Scrip (forms available in office)

·         Box Tops (drop off in box top box located in atrium by FBA boxes or classrooms) Helps with playground cost/upkeep. We are looking for a box top coordinator so if you are interested please don’t hesitate to contact us

·         Paper Recycling, (drop off in large green bins located by playground or 7 hills parking lot) Recycling money helps to purchase copy paper when we need to replenish

·         Schnuck’s eScrip Card Program (if you shop Schnuck’s this is a way to help make money for our school.  Cards are available in the folder outside the FBA office.

 

Parents in Prayer – If you would be interested in praying for our students, school and families, please contact Kim Tinge, kim.tinge@gmail.com for more information.  There is a group who meets at 8:30 on Monday mornings to pray or you can be on an email list to receive prayer requests.  I covet your prayers!

 

Tuition Payments –   Thank you for being so prompt with your tuition payments!  It is greatly appreciated! Remember late charges, $25, will be applied to all late tuition payments.

First Baptist Academy's Spring Dinner Auction is Thursday, April 21, 2016: Thanks to all of you who have so generously volunteered your time! This auction committee has done a fantastic job and what a wonderful group of faithful, hardworking, dedicated people God has blessed us with. How does the auction benefit you as parents???? It is what helps us keep the tuition cost down as the proceeds provide much support in the way of technology, classroom needs, extra-curricular activities, electives, and a variety of other costs. Please plan to join us next Thursday night - tickets are still available and we look forward to seeing what God has in store. If you are unable to attend, would you pray for that night as it has a huge impact on our school.

FBA Musical - Cinderella sales. - Tickets are on sale now, $7.00, at the receptionist desk in the atrium for the performances on April 28, 29th @ 7:00 p.m., and April 30th @ 1:00 p.m. This program promises to be an outstanding performance! Many thanks go out to Mrs. April Jones and Mrs. Melanie Jenkins for their wonderful direction in this program. A big thanks to Mr. Steve Jones for the hours of work on the set and Mrs. Terry Pattison for the amazing set and costume design - talented people and we are so blessed!! Please come and support our students and we hope to see you there!!

2016-17 Enrollment – Please notify the office if you know you are not returning next year. Also, we are in the open enrollment phase and if you have not re-enrolled but know your child is coming back please call Pat as soon as possible to re-enroll your child.

Cinderella Breakfast April 23, 2016 – Beginning on Tuesday, March 15th
tickets will go on sale for the Cinderella Breakfast. The breakfast will be from 9:00-10:30 in Gym room 1 and tickets are limited. Cost: $10 per ticket.
 

April 28, 29, & 30th - Cinderella is coming! Tickets go on sale March, 15th the cost is $7 per person children under 3 are free. We would love for you to mark your calendars to join us for a special night! More information will be coming your way in the future.

Box Tops Contest: And the Winner is…….. 5th Grade!!! Thanks to all who participated and brought in box tops we were able to send almost 10,000 box tops with this submission. The monies raised from box tops help with the upkeep of our playgrounds. Remember you can send them in all year long and be sure to watch for expiration dates as we lost close to $200 in expired box tops. Again, thank you to all of you for the support!

NEW ADDITION to the CAFETERIA – Healthy Vending Machine
In an attempt to provide some healthy options, this vending machine is available to students 5-12th grade daily for lunch purchases and before/after school.

REMINDER - NO SCHOOL February 12 & 15th

2016-17 Enrollment - If you have not notified the office yet whether you will be leaving or returning next year, please do so as soon as possible. Early enrollment for FBCO and Creation Corner is next week with open enrollment beginning February 16th.

K-8th grade Skate Night - From 6-8pm on Thursday, February 11, 2016, we will have our K-8th grade family skate night at Fun Spot in Belleville. This is a GREAT night of family fun. Admission: $1 plus skate rental. Watch for more information soon!

FBA Athletics News

The annual Players-Coaches basketball game will take place Thursday, Feb 18th from 3:30-5:15. Gym doors will open at 3:10 and admission is $2. Come support your high school basketball players as they square off against the coaches. Bring a friend and come ready for an entertaining game!! Hot dogs, Pizza, drinks, and more available for purchase!

Middle School Track begins Feb 22nd. Come run, jump, sprint, or throw for FBA! For more information, contact Coach Hull at rhull224@gmail.com .

Are you a 5th-12th grader and are interested in FBA baseball? Let Mr. Munton know, or tell Mrs. Billingsley in your PE class! We are currently feeling out interest for spring club baseball this spring, middle school baseball for August, and high school baseball next spring.

If you're interested, please leave a check, along with your size(s) with Sheri at the front desk. Club baseball players will receive a hat along with their athletic fee and do not need to pay extra. These are high quality, flexfit hats and should hold up well. DUE Feb 11 - I am placing the order then, as since they are custom they will take a month+ to get in. These cursive "E" hats are truly one of a kind and will help promote FBA baseball! Order form available on website.

Athletics News

Congrats to the middle school boys on a great season- they finished their season with a win last night. The middle school girls will be going to Regionals tonight in Germantown. Good luck girls!

Our high school teams have home games upcoming on Jan 15,19, and 22 all starting at 6pm. Come join us in support of our teams!

2016-17 Enrollment -Please pay special attention to the early registration deadline dates for current FBA families, February 1st-5th . Please let us know if your student will be returning next year or contact us if you have any questions. If you know that you are not returning next year, please notify the office as well. Open enrollment begins February 16th and we will fill classes at that time with new students.

K-8th grade Skate Night - From 6-8pm on Thursday, February 11, 2016, we will have our K-8th grade family skate night at Fun Spot in Belleville. This is a GREAT night of family fun. Admission: $1 plus skate rental. Watch for more information soon!

April 28, 29, & 30th - Cinderella is coming! Our students are hard at work learning and preparing for the musical and we would love for you to mark your calendars to join us for a special night! More information will be coming your way in the future.

Tuition Assistance Form - If you are in need of filing for tuition assistance for next year, forms are available in the office. All forms for consideration are due on or before April 30, 2016. New forms must be filled out each year.

Box Tops Contest: Our next box tops contest ends on February 11th. Please send in those box tops with your students and help us raise money for our school. Box tops can be sent in all year long so keep those box tops coming!!

FBA Yearbook - We would love for you to submit pictures from any activity, classroom, playground, parties, special events, or other, for consideration in our yearbook. School Cancellation Due to Weather -In case of bad weather, remember to check for First Baptist Academy O'Fallon, IL school closing on KSDK, Channel 5, KMOV Channel 4 and KTVI Channel 2. If you have signed up for our emergency texts, you may receive school closings by text message.

Spring Finals Schedule for 9-11th Grade Thursday, May 12 8:20 - 9:50 3rd Hour Final 9:55-11:25* 5th Hour Final *(5th hour English students complete their final at 12:00) High school students are dismissed after their last final for the day.

Friday, May 13 8:20 - 9:50 2nd Hour Final 9:55-11:25* 4th Hour Final *(4th hour English students complete their final at 12:00) High school students are dismissed after their last final for the day.

Monday, May 16 8:20 - 9:50 6th Hour Final 9:55 -11:25 7th Hour Final High school students are dismissed after their last final for the day.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

  1. High school students ONLY SHOW UP for morning classes in which they have a final exam or classes in which finals are given.

  2. Students will remain in classrooms until the scheduled time of finals has ended (bring a book to read if you finish early).

  3. Students MUST leave school when finals have ended.
