Message to Parents:
Hello all! My name is Mrs. Hooks (Miss Rogier before I got married this past spring), and I am in my third year of teaching 6th grade at FBA. I am so thankful to be in a school that focuses on putting God first, and encourages our students to do the same. Working with this age group is challenging and exciting, and they definitely keep me on my toes. Thank you for entrusting your children to me this year – we work very hard in 6th grade, and I am confident they will all step up to the plate and strive for excellence in their studies. Please pray for me, and for all of the students God has placed in 6th grade this year, that we may grow closer to Him as we grow together in wisdom and understanding.
I grew up in a Christian home and accepted Christ when I was only five or six years old. God has continuously worked in my heart to make me more like Him, especially during my high school and college years. I am thankful for the loving family and friends He has given me; they have challenged and encouraged me to “lay aside every weight and sin” which can keep me from growing spiritually. God persists in His pursuit of my heart, and I pray that He will do so throughout my life.
General Goals & Responsibilities:
Over the last two years, I have been able to teach almost every subject in 6th grade, and this level of curriculum is both fun and challenging for the students. This year, I have been blessed to work with Ally Otey (6th grade co-teacher), which has allowed me to focus on fewer subject areas and extend the ways in which I instruct and guide my wonderful students. The classes I am teaching this year are Bible, Math, Literature, and Study Skills.
